Hi, I’m Laura Shavin. I wanted to let you know about my brand new podcast: The Offcuts Drawer.
It’s about writers and their offcuts drawer.
Because even the most successful writers fail occasionally. And every writer has a virtual bottom drawer where they keep these “offcuts” – the bits of work they never finished, or they had rejected or they just couldn’t quite find a home for. I choose the most interesting pieces, take them away and get them recorded by actors. Then we listen to them, and the writer tells me the stories behind them – what were they trying to do, why didn’t it work, what actually DID it lead to… and along the way we learn about their technique, their personal story and the career twists and turns that led them to where they are today.
I’ve got some great guests – novelists, comedians, TV writers, journalists, many of whose work will be familiar to you.
